Teresa,
Thank you, yes I saw that book and I believe the second book, the one that the excerpts were sent to me - much of the new book was written ver batim from the first book you are speaking of. One of the things that is so weird is that Ruth's original book says that Samuel Trogdon was a wealthy land owner and gave Catherine and Abraham Hammer the plantation they lived on. In the second book, the wording has been changed and it says 160 acres of land, but I cannot find a record of that. I'm trying to find the documentation for that and the Cane Creek stuff, but so far I have had no luck. Glenda has tried to track down Thomas Hammer who published the second book (and contributed to the first), but he would be quite elderly and there is no listing for him in Minnesota, where he lived when he published that second book. Thank you again for the lead - every piece of the puzzle helps. I appreciate you taking the time to try to help me.
Jean
