Hello Nancy,
sorry for the delay in response to your message our computer had a virus and we were off line.
I am forwarding a message from a cousin that has alot of history. Also with talking with my folks they remember that the stories being told that the rich Trogdon's stayed in Scotland-Enlgand and the others left for the new world and settled in WV.
I hope this will help.
My Dad and your Great-Uncle was Leo. Pharoah and Cora Noble Trogdon were parents of fourteen children, ten of whom lived to adulthood. There is only one living sibling left, Uncle George. who lives in California. Without checking the records, I think he's around 85 years old or thereabouts. My Dad would have been 87 this year and Uncle George was next in the birth order. Uncle Muss was in his early 90's when he died last year. He was near Uncle Sidney in the birth order. There are four spouses still living - your grandmother, my Mother, Aunt Ruth (Muss), and Aunt Marie(Isom). My Mother is Geneva Grizzle Trogdon and she still lives in Rittman. We celebrated her 80th birthday on September 4. Aunt Ruth is at Smithville -Western Nursing home just outside of Smithville, and Aunt Marie still lives in Rittman. We were doing a bit of traveling in 1982 and stopped to see your grandparents in Homassassa, Fla., but I don't think Aunt Ona lives there now. If you have her address, I'd love to have it.
Your grandparents were the first ones in the family to move to Rittman from Wayne, WVA. One by one or two by two, the rest of the family moved north for jobs. Most of them lived with your grandparents ( I know my Dad did) until they could earn enough money to find a place of their own and send for their families.
Shortly after Sandy had sent this letter our Great Aunt Ruth died.
Would you share any additional information?
Hope to hear from you.
Cindy
