The Parton Project

Dear Trevor, Jan and Lel

You, and any others in the Thomas Troughear/Mary Burney line, might like to have a look at the Parton website:

It is the extensive work of one D. Bradbury, and has a great number of links to Parton related lists. There is not a lot about Troughears, but it places them in their context - a small, hard-work west-coast coal and steel village, struggling to survive against the political and commercial manoeverings of Whithaven, just around the next point. Whitehaven was always going to win out, and Parton today is a sleepy little backwater, on a bleak coast looking out towards Ireland, and sitting below the rolling green fields that hold Moresby Church, where so many of our ancestors were christened, married and buried.
