My great great great grandmother was Ann Tophier/Trougheare born approx 1840. My grandmother said she was born in Ireland, however, the birth records that I found indicate England - she was only approx 34 years old when she died. Her husband Hughston Hawthorne was born abt 1836 in Cumbria, Cumberland. He too died at a very young age. The children, in particular my great great grandmother Sarah Trougheare Hawthorne, went to the US to live with relatives after the parents died (Sarah was approx 14 years of age) - they resided in Streator, Ill. (It was a mining community at the time so I assume that they were miners). Sarah married John Little in Ill and they ended up just outside Ladysmith, BC mining and fishing.

I am looking for information on Ann Trophier/Trougheare bonr 1840 if anyone has information.

Thanks

Glenda Yearley
