Perhaps Nancy Smithers, who married Samuel Trowell in Hood County, was a sister to my great grandmother, Lucinda C.Hughes.(It is believed that Lucinda's maiden name might have been CORNELIUS, but that is not a certainty.)Lucinda was born in MO about 1846.She and her husband William M. Hughes, b. abt. 1836 in IL, d. in TX abt. 1878, are definitely connected with S. D. Trowell. They all resided in Hood Co., TX sometime between 1860 and 1870.Maybe Lucinda was even Trowell's sister. They were related in some way since my grandfather and his brother list S. D. Trowell of Hill Co. TX as their next of kin on their military papers in 1898. I would appreciate any further information that you might have about Samuel D. Trowell and Nancy Smithers and any children that they had.Do you have any idea what Nancy Smithers' maiden name was? Can you pinpoint where in MO these Trowells lived? Your Samuel Trowell and mine are the same person.I have a picture of a little girl named Birdie Wallace Martin that was given to Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Trowell at some time.(Lucinda Hughes remarried W. W. Martin in 1879 after the death of William M. Hughes.)Please email me. Thanks so much.
