Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

The name was most likely "Dreher," which when pronounced in German, sounds a lot like "Troyer," however, this issue is somewhat unsettled since there are also other similar European references. In all, these are the spellings I have found that might have some connection to Troyer:

Treyer
Streyer
Strayer
Treher
Dreher
Tryar
Trayer
Drä˙er
Dre˙er
Treier
Tre˙er
Träger
Traeger
Tręher
Treger
Troeher
Dreger
Dreyer
Dreier

When you recognize how often a name gets misspelled in official records, you can almost despair at believing that a thorough search is possible.
