Andrew Troyer, Maryland and Lancaster, PA

Looking for the PARENTS and BIRTHPLACE of Andrew Troyer/Tryer, b. abt. 1749 in Maryland and d. March 31, 1822 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA.

Andrew Tryer enlisted in Fredericktown, Maryland in June 1775 and served one year in Captain Price's Maryland Company; reenlisted in June 1776, served in Captain Williams' and Griffins' Companies, Colonel Rawlings' Maryland Regiment, and was captured at Fort Washington and held seven weeks and paroled January 3, 1777. He enlisted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in July 1777 and served two years as Sergeant in Captain Jacob Weaver's Company, Colonel Hampton's 10th Pennsylvania Regiment, and was in the battle of Monmouth. He enlisted in the spring of 1779 and served four months in Captain Adamson Tannehill's Company, Colonel Rawling's Maryland Regiment. He stated that he was wounded in the service, but gave no details when applying for his pension.

Andrew Tryer married Eliz. Myers abt. 1777. They raised their children in Lancaster, Lancaster Co., PA: Jacob, Catherine, John, Anna Maria (married Jacob Frailey), Rebecca, Catherine, Salome, Christian and Elizabeth. Andrew Tryer and wife Elizabeth and family belonged to the First Reformed Church of Lancaster, and are now buried in Lancaster Historical Cemetery - were reinterred from German Reformed Church Cemetery in 1872.
