New England Trues
My mother's maiden name was Ruth True. She had brothers Charles and Walter and a
sister Jean. My grandfather was Walter Francis True, headmaster of Randolph, Vermont
high school and Lyndon Institute (Lyndonville, Vermont). He married Susan Roundy.
Walter and Jean are the only surviving siblings. Walter has a son Gary who lives in
Indiana and has two sons. My Aunt Jean had at one point a huge bound book about the
Trues which I think was published in the late 1920's or early 1930's. I haven't seen it in
years. Apparently, their was a large True family reunion in the late 50's in Massachussetts
[sic?] around the time of my grandfather's death and my christening.
Is their any truth to the rumor that the Trues were somehow related to Thomas a Beckett
who was martyred by some British king? My Aunt Jean did some research in the early
1960s when she was in England, but came up with nothing.
