Samuel Trueblood - Civil War, NC
Harrington Light Artillery
This unit was organized in Richmond County, North Carolina on April 26, 1862. Evidently someone in the Confederate War Department thought that Richmond County, was the political entity of the same name in Virginia, and this battery was erroneously assigned as Company D, 12th Battalion Vir- ginia Light Artillery. The order that affected this organization was Special Orders No. 112, Adjutant and Inspector General's Office, dated May 15, 1862. The company was reassigned as Company A, 13th Battalion North Carolina Light Artillery by Special Orders. No. 66, Executive Department, North Carolina
On the Roster of Harrington Light Artillery is: TRUEBLOOD, SAMUEL: Enl. on 3/15/62 in Hertford Co., NC. in Co. B, 12th Battn. VA Lt. Art. Transf. to Co. A, 13th Battn. NC Lt. Art. on 11/4/63. Pres. on all rolls thru 2/65. Paroled on 4/16/65.
There was apparently another Samuel Trueblood from Indiana who enlisted in the Civil War and was killed. The Samuel identified above enlisted in North Carolina and apparently survived the Civil War.Does anyone know who were the parents, wife, children of this Samuel Trueblood?
