The purported will of William Truelove, dated January 9, 1818, makes it clear that Lucy Jones, Benjamin Jones, Priscila Stacey and Samuel Jones are his children by Susannah Jones and, in the same document, he leaves property to his wife, Mary, and named children by her (Franklin County North Caroline Loose Estate Papers, Vol. II, abs. by Stephen E. Bradley, Jr., p. 95.). Later, this will was challenged and refused recognition by the Franklin Co. court but there has been no challenge to the fact that William Truelove was the father of the named children by Susannnah Jones. I have yet to learn what disposition was made of the Truelove estate between his two families.
