BTW my Great-grandfater James Sherman Trusty wrote the following in his Indian application:
******************
Sherman Trusty made application July 11, 1908, claiming Indian heritage. "My name is Sherman Trusty and I reside at Burton, Ga.I was born in Towns Co., Ga. in 1865.I claim relationship to the Cherokee Indians through my father, John W. Trusty, who was a quarter Cherokee Indian. My father, I believe, was born in Burke Co., N.C. in 1818.I have heard my father talking about he and the Indians playing together when he was a boy.He was not recognized as an Indian, but always as a white person. He never went West with the Indians.I have heard my father say that he came from North Carolina to Georgia when he was a boy.I know nothing about my father's history. This is all I know about my connections." Dated July 11, 1908.The application was rejected due to "Does not know anything about his ancestors."
