I see lots of questions on this site that could be answered from the pages of THE TUBB CONNECTION, a newsletter of "Facts, Tradition, and Conjecture" compiled by Bill Tubbs of Jasper, Al about the Southern Clan of Tubb(s). The first issue was in March 1982 and continued until 1991. I have 1327 pages, probably most, if not all of it.
If your ancestors, pre 1850, are found in NC, SC, TN, AL, Miss, Missouri, Ark, Tex, La, then TTC will probably help. It's almost completely Southern Clan.
Bill is now 71 and I have seen no indication that he intends to publish the data. I am more than 10 years younger but am not in good health. This might well be a limited time offer.
All the pages have been scanned as jpg images and CDs of these pages can be sent out. In addition, hundreds of these pages have been converted to text files using Optical Character Recognition. Of those "OCRed" text pages, about a hundred have now been edited against the original jpg images. Now these "OCR" text files have lots of mistakes; it takes about 10 hours to edit 50 pages (say about 10 minutes a page).
I will send 50 "original" jpg images and the same 50 pages as an OCRed text file to anybody that is willing to spend the time to edit 50 pages. Once edited, if you then send a stamped self addressed envelope with a blank CD, I will send you the jpg images of all 1327 pages. The CD may also contain other Tubb "raw data".
There is one proviso. Now THE TUBB CONNECTION is not copyrighted, NEVERTHELESS I insist that all that are given a copy give a pledge not to distribute it until after Bill is deceased. Bill at one time intended to live off the income of TTC and he may yet publish for profit and income, which he deserves. In fact, I intend to send a copy to Bill which he may wish to copy and distribute for profit. I do not have any objection to copying individual pages and sending them to other researchers.
There are now 4 of us and we wish to spread out the work. This is an update to 11 Feb post.
