Researching John Preston TUCKER, 52, and wife Ella Maud (NEER),32 - found in the 1900 Federal Census of Beaver, Lincoln Co., Kansas. Also found in the 1885 State Census of Lincoln Co. KS. John P. Tucker, born Vermont, is a son of Joseph TUCKER and wife, Ann COLBY.
John P. and his parents, Joseph(age 68,born 1812, NH) and Ann (born 1822, VT) TUCKER are found in the 1880 census of Williamstown, Orange Co., Vermont, living with John's brother, Wilber Tucker, age 31. John Preston Tucker is listed as age 29, farmer, single.
John P. TUCKER md between 1880 and 1883 (where?), Ella Maud NEER(born Ohio about Nov 1868) and by 1885 this couple is found in the 1885 State census of Kansas, living in Lincoln Co. with two sons: Joseph, one year old, born KS and Arthur Cleveland, age two months, born KS.
Later children, all born KS, were Earl Neer Tucker, born Dec 1888 and Mildred, born Mar 1891, and Harlan born 1905. John's monument in Karoma Cemetery, Alfalfa Co. OKLA lists only the dates (1852-1909). Ella M. (NEER) TUCKER'S monument lists: 1866-1941). Does anyone have obituaries for this couple or other resource information?
In the 1910 KS census, a sister of Ella (Neer) Tucker - listed as Lillian Hutchinson, age 31, was living with her husband, G. P. HUTCHINSON, with children Hachie 9; Paul 7; and Gerald, one year old. Lillian's mother Amelia NEER, a widow, age 72 is living with the family.
Ella (widow) is listed in the 1920 census of Alfalfa Co. OK living at Karoma. Her mother, Amelia (?) NEER, age 82, is also listed with Ella M. Tucker in the 1920 census of Karoma, Alfalfa Co., OK. One son, Harlen Tucker, age 14, is also living in the household.
