Tucker-Phar in Wabash, White, & Jefferson Co., Illinois

On one of the genealogy bulletin boards, my James A. Tucker is said to have been born 4-18-1813 in NC, and died 3-4-1894 in Mt.Vernon, Jefferson, IL. The lady that posted this information is deceased, so I've no way to check her documentation, but it's consistent with the census data I've found.

James A. Tucker wed Margaret Phar/Pharr, daughter of Rev. Ephraim Phar and Nancy McReynolds. Margaret was born abt. 1825 in IL or TN, depending on which document you believe. The Phar family resided near Mt. Carmel, Wabash, IL, though it's not known when they moved there.
Since her father was a man of the cloth, one would think he performed the marriage, though it isn't recorded in IL records. But several of the Tucker children were born in Mt. Carmel. Wabash County is on the IN border, and also not far from KY.

The 1860 census has James, 46, and Margaret, 36, enumerated in Phillipstown, White, IL. Margaret is said to be "insane from sickness." Their children are Ephraim, 17; Suel, 16; James, 14; George, 10; and Nancy, 5; all b. IL. Living with them are Mary Taylor, 25, b. IN; and Jonathan Stewart, 27, a doctor, born in IL.

In 1870, James, 58, is living in Burnt Prairie Twsp., White County, IL with a different wife, Catherine, 40, said to have been born in Scotland (though other researchers have told me this is in error) and an additional child, Henry, age 9, b. IL. Shown as Nancy in 1860, 1870 shows her listed as Louisa, 15. Ephraim is believed to have married Emily Crawford and moved from the household.

A marriage record in White County, IL shows James A. Tucker wed Catherine McGehee 3-22-1868. So it would appear Margaret died sometime after Henry's birth and 1868.

In 1880, Catherine is shown to be divorced, and living with a family in White County. James is living with two of his sons in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson, IL. All census reports indicate James A. Tucker was a wagonmaker or wheelright. I've never found any records indicating James' parentage, or whether he had any siblings, although there were
other Tuckers in the area.

Thanks for reading. I assure you, it wasn't my intent to embellish, but I wanted to include every potential clue I could think of to assist in identifying this family. James A. Tucker was my ggg-grandfather.
