Gawin Corbin's Will is found in the record books at Fredericksburg, Va. It was dated 1 November 1739, and proven on 12 February 1744. Gawin Corbin of Stratton Major Parish, King & Queen Co., Va., names: (1) Son: Richard Corbin (married Betty, dau of Col. John Tayloe). Richard is named in two Codicils of the Will of his father, which mentions that son, Richard, to continue tanning Corbin leather and make shoes for all his people and himself, if required, and make all his negroes clothes. (2) Son (of minor age): Gawin Corbin, all lands in Westmoreland, Lancaster, King George, and Prince William Counties, also 6000 acres in Spitsylvania County. (3) My brother: His widow, Mrs. Thomas Corbin. (4) Son (of minor age): John Corbin, land called, Portabago. (5) Daughters: Joanna Tucker, and Alice Needler, wife of Benjamin Needler, my house and 4 lots in Williamsburg. (6) Daughter: Allerton Corbin He mentions his brother in law, William Bassett, Esq. and, Robert Tucker. On page 655 is found): Family records of Gawin Corbin mentions, Jane Tucker, Mrs. Joanna Tucker, Col. Robert Tucker, Godparents of the children of Gawin Corbin and wife, Joanna Tucker, daughter of Col. Robert Tucker of Norfolk Co., Virginia, who were married on 17 November 1762. Gawin Corbin was educated in England and returned to Virginia on 6 August 1761 and lived in "Buckingham House" in Middlesex Co., Virginia, served as Burgess of Middlesex Co. at Sessions of Nov 1766, March 1776, March 1768, May 1769, Nov 1769, May 1770, and July 1771.
