My Grandfather's family is also from the Bothwell area. From what I understand, almost all of the Tunks' in southern Ontario can be traced back to Richard Tunks who came over from Bitterly, Shropshire, England either during or just after the War of 1812. He married Catherine Wilkerson Hansel and they had 11 children together. I think that most of the Bothwell Tunks' are descended from Richard's son, Robert's children, particularly David Tunks.
