Did some digging in the Clayton Genealogical Library this weekend. I found the following:

Elections of the Burgesses, Halifax County 1768-1769
John Orrell Tunstall, John, and Thomas

Halifax County, VA Deed Books 2-6 1759-1767
pg 456 9 January 1765 Thomas Tunstall, Sr. of halifax Co. to Thomas Tunstall, Jr. of same, for the natural love & affection of his son & for his agreeing to provide for sd Thomas Tunstall, Sr. & Mary, his wife, a comfortable subsistence during their natural livees & also for 50#(pounds sterling), 2 negro slaves named, Cupid & Lucy, 3 mullato servants named, Keyser, Ben and Sabra, with their increase, 1 bay horse, all household & kitchen furniture, all outstanding debts, & all estate of what nature or kind so ever....
Signed Tho. Tunstall Wit: Robt. Farguson, John Orril Tunstall Recorded 15 August 1765

Almost everything I found with John Orrell had Thomas as a co-witness. Additionally, I do not have a thomas married to a Mary. Any Ideas?

John Appears on the tax role until at least 1791. He gives permission for Elizabeth to marry Hamblin Gunn in 1794. Does anyone have any other information on him?

Also of interest:

Tunstall, Lucy Caroline died June 10, 1826, age 17, at her fathers residence. Dau. of Wm. Tunstall, EEsq. of Bell Grove, Pittsylvania. The Lynchburg Virginian, June 21, 1826 pg 3 c 4

Marriage & Deaths from Richmond VA Newspapers 1780-1820

Married Thurs. last (Jan 28) Capt. Edmund Tunstal, on of Representatives from Pittsylvania Co., to Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, widow of late Col. Wm. Smith of Chesterfield Va. 2 feb 1802 p. 3

One final note. While searching for early Orrell colonists, in an attempt to find a marriage between a Tunstall and an Orrell, I discovered the majority of the Orrells in Caroline Co., Maryland. This led me to search for a Tunstall in Maryland and I found the following. Capt. John Tunstall, who was the captain of a ship, settled in Somerset County. He was a Magistrate of the Crown and a Sheriff. He had at least 4 children. John Tunstall Jr., Mary Elizabeth Tunstall Graham, Ann Tunstall Gordon and another daughter who married into the Hack family. Ann Gordon lived in Northumberland VA. in 1746, at the time of the proving of the will. Any ideas on this person?
