My family are from Manchester area and were there around the dates you state. There is an Amy Tunstall but a little later born around 1900. She had many brothers one of wwhom was my grandfather Philip Tunstall born 1910. His father was also called Philip and this Philips mother according to family sources was unmarried and so the name Tunstall comes from the female line. I don't know if any of this links up with what you have but I'd love to help more if I can. There is also a link wth the Manchester Guardian but I'm not sure of the details. Also my grandfather married a woman called Lily who has a sister called Nellie.
