I can't believe it. I've been searching for ages for any links to my family.
I never knew when John Tunstall and Elizabeth married and I didn't know her surname until reading your posting.
I don't know if you are aware of Alice's other siblings or not. John & Elizabeth had the following children all christened at St Chad, Kirkby by Melling:
Ellen christened 19 May 1822 (my ggg grandmother)
Catherine christened 21 March 1824
John christened 24 July 1826
Henry christened 4 August 1828
Elizabeth christened 6 February 1831
Alice christened 14 March 1833 (your ggg grandmother)
William christened 4 March 1836
Mary christened 8 January 1840
I'm not sure if Ellen ever married, but she had an illegitmate daughter, Hannah (Anne) Tunstall, christened on 6 June 1840, also at St Chad's.
Hannah Tunstall married Edward Brumfitt, they are my gg grandparents.
I was sent the following from the 1851 Census Index of Liverpool (I haven't been able to look up the actual entries though):
TUNSTALL ALICE 18 MILLINER LAN. KIRKBY 17A 2189/1
TUNSTALL ELIZABETH 55 - LAN. KIRKBY 17A 2189/1
TUNSTALL HANNAH 10 SCHOLAR LAN. KIRKBY 17A 2189/1
TUNSTALL JOHN 55 GREEN GROCER LAN. RAINFORD 17A 2189/1
TUNSTALL MARY 11 SCHOLAR LAN. KIRKBY 17A 2189/1
You will notice that Hannah is with her grandparents.
I look forward to hearing from you, either by replying here or emailing me directly.
I notice you're in NZ, I'm in Sydney.
