I am also trying to find out whether a family legend about being related to John Henry Tunstall is fact or fiction. Although John Tunstall did not have any children or brothers to pass on the family name, his father (John Partridge Tunstall) did have a brother, Edmond. Does anyone know anything about him?

I am particularly interested in finding out something about the Tunstall side of the family because I have run into a brick wall with my husband's grandfather, Joseph Tunstall. I have no information on him, except that he was divorced in abt 1915 from Bessie Belle Cameron. They had one child together, Gordon Cameron Tunstall, b. 1910 in either New York or New Jersey d. 1994 Phoenix, Arizona. Since Joseph would be the link to any previous Tunstalls, I am really stuck.

The Lincoln County, NM connection to Billy the Kid is particularly interesting for me because on my side of the family, I can trace a direct line to Heiskell and Barbara "Ma'am" Jones of Lincoln County, who were also friends with Billy the Kid.
