In considering the info I am not sure of which Thomas this is. Thomas Sr. died approx 1835. The act of Congress covering this land act was not completed until 1850. Thomas Jr. was not born until 1821, well after the War of 1812. I did find additional info on Thomas from the same war. It shows he was a lieutenant in the 52nd Regiment (Christian's) Virginia Militia.

There are records of a Thomas Tunstall serving in the Revolution. The three records list him as a private, corporal and sergeant-major. Whether these all apply to the same individual, I do not know.
