Joe, "Turnpaw" is used as the accepted spelling to this day by my line of the family. My grandmother was Flora Marina Turnpaw, the daughter of George W. Turnpaw, and granddaughter of James William Turnpaugh, Sr.Please don't make assumptions about the spelling of the family name. Turnpaugh is not the current spelling for the entire family name, only the branches that chose to adopt that particular spelling. Also, only Christopher Turnpaugh's family appear to have settled in Maryland.John and Simon (of New Jersey)moved west to Ohio, but the rest stayed in Maryland. What are sources do you have for your conclusions?
