Leslie,
The more that I look at all of the Turnmire names the more duplicate of surnames I find.In my family I am also finding a Setser and, of course, Maynard.I have communicated with Ann Smith who has many of the same family names as you.According to her (and other records that I have found)Michael, Jacob & Samuel Dormeyer came to America from Alsace France on 15 Sept 1749 on the English ship "Phoenix".Jacob and Samuel settled in Berks Co., PA where Samuel married Anna Christina Popemoyer. The name later changed to Turnmire.
My gg grandfather Jeremiah Turnmire b. 1812 NC. married Martha Setser.Jeremiah was the grandson of the Samuel Dormeyer mentioned above.
If you know the first name of your g grandfather Newton's father, I might be able to find him on the old copies of family records that I have.
Back to Rev William Maynard. He was born in 1830 and did not move to the Puyallup/Sumner area until 1902.The article that I have says that his daughter, Charity had married George Munch and moved to Sumner in 1910 and that the rest of the Maynard family settled in the Puyallup/Sumner area later. It sounds as if all of Williams children followed him to the area.

I look forward to hearing from you
