WoW! I stumbled on this website. A few years ago I did all this research for my husband who has never known his father's side of the family. I lost it all when my old computer crashed. But I traced his lineage back to Owen Tutor from Wales - same story you all recount. My husband's dad was Elmon Tutor from N. Carolina & I can not remember his dad's name. I think I found out it was Henry. HIS dad's name was Jesse Tutor I believe & he had 3 or 4 brothers, Rueben, William Owen (shows up a lot in this family), & James Alfred - they all served in the Civil War. I wrote the National Archives and have lots of cool photocopies of pay, uniform allotments, promotions, & a letter that their dad wrote to get William's pay sent to him as William had died in the war. Anyway, y'all know so much more! My husband is 56 years old now and wonders all the time if he has relatives somewhere in N.C. - I know his dad was married at least twice before he married his mom. My husband;s name is also Elmon, but he has always been called Skipp by his mom. His dad died in the 50's when he as 4 or 5 & his mom never attempted to contact any remaining family members. His dad was living in Daytona Beach (where we still are) at the time although he died in Jacksonville Florida. He had moved from N.C. to Florida with his second wife from what I understand but he has children with a first wife in N.C. - seems it was somewhere near Clinton or something. If you are still posting can you help us? I would love for my husband to talk to someone from his dad's side of the family. Thanks
