John W. Tutt of Ky, IL, WA
Who were the parents of JOHN W. TUTT (reportedly born KY ca. 1850)?
Ca. 1874, John married Emma Fournier (b. IL ca. 1854).John and Emma had children:Wallace J. (b. IL 1875), Julia Elizabeth (b. KY ca. 1878), Lillie P. (b. IL 1887), and Claude W. (b. WA 1889).I do not know where in IL John and his family may have lived, but Emma reportedly was born in Kankakee Co., IL.The 1880 census shows John, Emma, Wallace and Julia in Lower Town Pct 1, Daviess Co., KY.Living with them are John's sister, Susan Tutt (age 18), and a 27 year old boarder named Joe Price.John's parents were both reported born in KY; Emma's parents were both reported born in Canada.John's occupation was "distiller".Unverified information has John and family in Montgomery Co., TN in 1884. They were in WA, probably King Co., before 1889.
Julia married John Carmichael ca. 1894, had daughters Julia (1895) and Gertrude (1897), and died ca. 1898.John apparently also was dead before 1900, as Emma is described as widowed on the 1900 census for Newcastle, King Co., WA.Wallace, Lillie and Claude were in the household with her. Lillie reportedly married a man named Taylor before 1910.Claude married Minnie A. Webber before 1920 and they had a son, Roy Willis Tutt, born ca. 1825.It appears that Wallace never married.
On the 1910 census for Newcastle, King Co., WA, Emma was head of a household that included Wallace and Claude. In 1920 Newcastle, King Co., WA, she was head of household and Wallace was still living with her.The censuses show that Wallace and Claude worked in coal mining.Claude is unaccounted for in 1920, but his wife, Minnie, was living with her parents. In 1930 Newcastle, King Co., WA, Wallace was head of household and described as disabled.Emma was living with him. Also in 1930, Claude and Minnie lived in Renton, King Co., WA, where he was an auto mechanic.Emma reportedly died ca. 1934.
