I am related to George Twyford's wife, Sophronia Parmley.George and his nephew, William Frederick Twyford, fought under General Morgan. They were captured on July 26, 1863, in Salineville, Ohio, as the Great Raid ended.(Morgan himself surrendered on this day.)They were transported to Camp Douglas in Chicago, where George died. There is a Confederate monument at Oak Woods cemetery where a mass grave was dug for the prisoners. The bronze plates at the base of the monument list the names of the 4,000+ men who were identified.Among the names is that of "G.W. Tuyford."
I was unaware that George was ever affiliated with Ferguson. What information do you have?I have other information regarding George and his nephew if you are interested.
