John Twitchell England to New York

The John Twitchell I have in my records was likely born in the New York or New England area. He was most likely born around 1800-1815. His father of the same name, John Twitchell SR. was originally from England. He was likely born in the late 1700's. He landed in the New York area where he fathered John Twitchell Jr. with a cherokee indian lady (unknown name).
John Twitchell Jr. went on to marry Arsula Knight (originally from Ireland). They had children, one being Julia Twitchell (my great great great great grandmother). Julia married Alonzo Woodworth of Rochester, NY. They made the dangerous trek across the country to California where they ended up settling in the Monterey area.
I'm interested in obtaining more information on the Twitchell's of New England/New York/England. If anyone has info, I'd really appreciate it.
