Megan,
The US Twitchells typically claim we descend from Benjamin and Joseph Twitchell/Tuchill who arrived from Chesham, Buckinghamshire around 1630-1632.This is from the Twitchell Genealogy which was compiled early this century by Ralph Emerson Twitchell.
Per the genealogy, the lineage to Benjamin and Joseph is:
Henry Twitchell b. 1460 in Chesham
Children:George B. (1485) and Henry
George B. married and had George and Agnes.
George married and had Richard (1540)
Richard married Cicely Waller, daughter of the Widow Birch, in 1581 and had:
Joseph - 1582
Mary - b. 1584
Martha - b. 1586
Anne - b. 1589
Sarah - b. 1591
Lazarus - b. 1594
Miriam - b. 1596
Benjamin - 1599
It is supposed to be the oldest and youngest children who emigrated.
A footnote on this information indicates it came from the Chesham Parish Register, vol. i, 1538-1636, transcribed by J.W. Garrett-Pegge and published in London in 1904.Further, it says Twitchells were residing in Chesham subsequent to 1715.
I don't know if this information will be of any help, but you may be able to trace your Emmeline up from the Chesham group.
Good luck with your search!
