Richard Beauford/Buford & ship "Elizabeth" 1635
I am a descendent of Richard Buford> John> Thomas Buford, Sr., > Thomas Jr., > then through Thomas Buford Jr.'s daughter, Agatha Buford, who married George Twyman II, as is my cousin. Does anyone know where the ship "Elizabeth" docked on the eastern seaboard in 1635? This is the ship that brought Richard Buford to the colonies.
Also, later on,George Twyman the Ist, came on the ship "Recovery" to the colonies.
My cousin, Gene Edward Twyman, and I are making a genealogical trip back to Virginia and Kentucky soon and would like to find where on the Eastern seaboard these ships landed.
Can anyone advise us as to a Maritime Historical Society which might just archive such information? Or, by some stroke of luck, has someone out there already discoved this information? We would really love to actually go to the PLACE[S] where these two ships landed.
I descend through "Judge" James Twyman, who fought in the Revolutionary War, and Gene descends through James' brother, Samuel, whose father,George Twyman III, resided during the American Revolution at Albemarle Co., VA , assisted in establishing American Independence, while acting in the capacity of PATRIOT from VA. He furnished supplies.
We would be so thrilled to get some good leads on this. We are also going to go to Peter Montague's gravesite, the father of Catherine Montague who married George Twyman, the Immigrant.
Looking forward to a lot of fun and a GREAT trip!
Happy Hunting out there!!
