Connie, thank you for your reply. I think I may have solved the mystery. I went back to those census records for Texas when it was still a Mexican colony. There I found Mary Donaho married to Calvin Robinett and they had two sons, John and Samuel. Samuel is 1-year-old. The census is for Jasper, Municipality of Bevil, May 1, 1835. That would put Samuel's birth at 1834. So the Samuel in the 1850 census is Mary's son from her marriage to Calvin Robinett. I haven't looked any further but I'm pretty sure that's right. If you noticed, the enumerator had crossed out Jasper and written in Anderson for Samuel's place of birth. Again, thank you for your help and pointing out that the surname is Bridges rather than Bridger. Ann
