Joey - Lisa here. I checked my Cowden file (for Cowdens of Midland, TX, including Andrews Co., TX, Ector, and several others), and the only Hill to a Cowden marriage I have SO FAR is W. Clifford Hill to Francis Geraldine Cowden in 1926 Midland Co., TX. However, I HAVE NOT checked the Andrews Co Courthouse for any vitals yet. I believe the John Motherwell Cowden family lived up that way, but I didn't think to check that last night. Can you tell me more about your Wallcie Ann Cowden and Frederick Newton Hill ? For some reason it sounds familiar, but haven't as yet located a reference. I know several things that have been reported incorrectly about the Midland, Tx Cowdens. I have a file just on this family, which I can send via snail mail, but not online, because I'm not online at my home, and it's the policy of the place where I am online. These Cowdens lived several places, i.e. Shelby Co., TX 1855, Palo Pinto Co., Tx, Midland Co., TX, Eddy Co., New Mexico, Lea Co., New Mexico, Ector Co., TX, Crane Co., TX, Winkler Co., TX, Ward Co., TX, Bexar Co., TX, Frio Co., TX, etc., etc. They still own ranches all over the state. Some went to school Erath Co., Tx, Bell Co., TX, etc., etc. They used Midland and Odessa/Andrews as bases - Midland was closest good schools early, so most if not all had homes here, and ranches elsewhere. Summer at the ranch, winter in school(for the wives & children) in town. They also lived Taylor Co., TX, Dallas Co., Tx, Tarrant Co., Tx., etc. MANY places. Too, there are other lines of Cowdens in Texas. Part of the Midland bunch moved to Kerr Co., Tx, where Washington P. Cowden, thought to be the son of Robert Lindsay Cowden of the Robert & Hannah Cowden line of Augusta Co., VA & Mecklenburg Co., NC also lived. My own Cowden line, (Lynn of Sevier Co., TN & Benton Co., AR) Linn C. Cowden moved first to Johnson Co., TX 1876, then to Erath Co., TX, where some of the Midland bunch also show up because of the college there. There is also an early Cowden death in Erath that may or may not connected to the Midland bunch while they were living in Palo Pinto Co., Tx. I haven't been able to verify yet. Please send a little more info on your Wallcie Ann Cowden and family, as some of the names have been reported wrongly, which I have discovered through my research. i'll keep looking through my files to see if I can find anything. If you would like a GED of my Midland Cowdens, send an address to my email: <lllhale@yahoo.com> Lisa.
