Bounty and Donation Land Grants --A Mystery

John Richards was one of the men killed by Santa Anna's army at Goliad. His estate was awarded both Bounty and Donation Land Grants. I have all the paperwork from the Texas General Land Office. John's heirs obtained patents on land in Archer county in 1860 but were still trying to get title to the land in 1872. There is no further information in the file.

How can I determine what happened to this land? Did any Richards family members ever get a title? If so, did they sell it or did they settle there? If not, who did obtain title to the land?

Thank you!
