McGowan (married name) of Smithville, TX sent to asylum around 1937?

Anyone know of a story of a young lady from Smithville (Batrop County) sent away after giving birth at a young age around the year of 1937? The father of her child would have been a McGowan or McGowen. I'm not sure if they were married.
