**Look at this record, it is handwritten and I believe the third letter in Mary's last name is an "n". Compare with letters in other handwritten words.

You might look for other members of the Ring family buried in that Oakland Cemetery, too.

Go to Rootsweb's WorldConnect -- http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi -- Type in Ring, John, and spouse Haney. There are several others working on this same line. Maybe y'all can compare and share information. You do have to be careful, some posters just copy from others, warts and all. You'll see some have son John Bart Ring born "1872" that doesn't fit with his father dying in the Civil War. Then note his death record shows birth "1862" -- that fits.
