My great aunt Bernie Mae Green was born in Bartlet, Bell, Texas on 11May1891. Her parents, my great-grandparents, were John Wesley Green and Mary Susan MATHIS Green. Great-Grandmother reports on 1900 census as a widow with her 6 children. Have never been able to locate any information with regards to Great-grandfather John Wesley's (JW as reported on his children's death records) story. I have never been able to locate where he died and when. His son, my grandfather William Carl GREEN states on future census his father John Wesley was born in Georgia and William Carl was born in Alabama. Great grandmother was born in/near Tallapoosa Alabama but cannot locate any marriage information in Alabama where grandfather was born and assumed that was where they married prior to his birth in 1885. My hope is to try and find Great-grandfather near where his daughter, my great aunt, was born: Bartlet, Bell, Texas and then try to trace him from there. Great grandmother was buried in Union Hill Cemetery,(1956) (Baptist) Linden Texas and am making the leap they were Baptist. Great grandmother's sister (I was told) was Martha Jane MATHES(MATHIS) who married Wiliam Jackson VIA who were buried in Bartlett Cemetery. Her other sister Dovie Ann MATHIS married James A VIA and they are also buried in Bartlett/Granger in 1900. I was also told that grandfather William Carl GREEN and his sister, my great aunt Bernie Mae Green went to school there in Bartlett but have never been able to go there and search archives. Grandfather William Carl GREEN was born 1885 and married Minnie Lee MILNER in 1903 over in Morris County Texas. I know that they were in Bartlett in 1891 because of my great-aunt's birth; but how, when, and why they arrived there is a mystery. Because of great-grandmother's sisters were also in Bartlett around the same time triggers the 'migration' issue but what was going on in Bartlett around 1890 to trigger the 'migration' is a mystery also. I don't know if they were land owners or renters because I haven't been able to locate their lifestyle. I haven't been able to locate any churches near their address given on the 1900 census to be able to make inquiries. If you can assist me, I would sincerely appreciate it. I can reimburse for any costs associated with the research. Thank you, -Sandee Notify Administrator about this message?
