My gg Grandfather Jackson, a preacher, was dragged from his home late one night and murdered (hung) by unknown assailants in about 1868 or 1869, probably near Valley Mills, leaving a young wife (E. Bishop) and baby daughter, Elizabeth. Widow Jackson married Josephus D. Meeks in 1869, and they raised 7 children over the next 15 years. We've been unable to uncover any other facts whatsoever about the unfortunate Reverend Jackson. Can anyone shed some light on this mystery?
