W E H Jones - around 1900

My relative W E H Jones applied for a Confederate pension in 1899. At that time he was a resident of Bosque county. I cannot find him in the 1900 federal census. I would like to know when and where he died and who he might have been living with at time of death.
Are there any records of residents in Bosque county in 1900 other than the federal census? Or, is there access to death records in Bosque county around 1900, say from newspapers or funeral director records?
His post office address was Walnut, so I suppose he lived in or near what is now Walnut Springs.
Any help would be appreciated.
