Hi I am looking for more information on Enoch Spivey. This is all the
information I have gathered so far:
Enoch Spivey was born about 1799 in NC (probably Moore County)
Married Zilpha Allen b. about 1801 in NC (probably Moore County) d. 1860
Lampasas Co, Tx
children:
Temple (Templeton) Spivey b. abt 1825 AL
John Spivey b. abt 1829 AL
James Spivey b. abt 1830 AL
Elias Spivey b. abt 1834 TN
Jane Spivey(maybe Nancy Jane) b. abt 1837 TN
Amanda Spivey b. abt 1844 TX
I believe I have placed them in Bibb Alabama on the 1830 census. The
1850 census places them in Nacogdoches, Texas. The 1860 census in
Henderson, Texas
Templeton and Enoch Spivey operated a ferry during the Civil war in
Henderson, Texas. There is a Templeton Spivey who settled in Bosque
county Texas,
he also hails from Moore County and was also found in Bibb Alabama with
Enoch. I believe this to be Enoch's brother, whom he probably named his
son after. Does anyone have any information on this family? If he is his
brother, this would make Enoch Spivey the son of John Spivey and Susanna
Stutts Smith (both of Moore County.) I have no way to confirm this of
course and am hoping someone might have some information. Any
information that would prove my theory wrong or right? Thanks
