I am looking for any information or family story about my great-grandfather's murder. My great-grandparents were Jim Lemuel Johnston and Mollie Harlow Johnston. Sometimes they were listed as "Johnson". They were married in 1886 in Lamar County, TX. At some point, they must have moved to Bowie County after early 1890. The family story is that Jim was murdered for his watch near DeKalb. There was a man found with the watch in his possession and he was lynched for the crime. Shortly afterward, Mollie also died. I have never been able to confirm any of this story or even find their graves. If you have any oral family history of this happening I would love to hear of it. Thank you.
