It just occurred to me, right after I posted the other message, that your adoptive parents might be able to help you.
Where was the adoption handled?
Was your name changed?
What was the last known address of your parents?
Do you know if your mother remarried?
The more information you are able to give, the better able someone would be able to help you in your search.
