My Ggrandmother FRANCES PERMELIA DALE, b 1862 MS,and her brother Henry 16, were living in household of brother-in-law JAMES THOMAS and step sister BETTIE COFFEE HOLMES THOMAS in the 1880 US Census. Frances'father unk DALE was b in MO, her mother, unk, b in MS.
Her future husband, my Ggrandfather JOEL FRANKLIN SMITH, b 1852 TX, was living next door in Cumings household, farmhand. They married abt 1880-81 and moved to Hearne, Robertson Co TX. Children Avy, Bessie, Charlie, DAVID JOSEPH SMITH,my Gfather b 1890, Lily (Lillian), Henry & Oliver. Family later in Houston.
1850 Burleson Census shows Francis Smith b abt 1800 N/SC with a son Joel b 1833. One of the older brothers could be the father of my Joel b 1851. I will be searching through more Censuses when I get to go to library....
