James Madison Livingston (1839-1935), a native of SC and ex-Confederate soldier in Co. A, 12th Infantry Regt. GA, moved to Burnet Co., TX, in 1869. Two yrs. later, he married Josephine Catherine Chamberlain (1851-1948), the dau. of Jas. T. Chamberlain and Sarah Runnels Barton. James Madison Livingston was the son of James Livingston, Sr., and Nancy Busby, of SC, who had moved their family to Sumter Co., GA, prior to the outbreak of the war. Before he m., JML worked as a cowboy, driving cattle up the Chisholm Trail to Abilene, KS. He and wife Josephine Chamberlain were the parents of 10 children.

Following is a tentative chronology of his life, taken primarily from on-line and family sources. Special thanks are due to Mary Livingston Holt for her contributions.
