In seeking info for Cora Bertee Woodward born in TX Nov 1891 per the Hood Co Tx 1900 Census, I found an obituary in Lockhart for a Searcy A. "Ottie" Barber, Jr., 88, who was born 1916 Fentress TX to Searcy Arthur and Cora Woodward Barber. He was preceeded by his parents, wife Eleanor Gillis, 2 brothers & 2 sisters; one sister Adelle survived him as well as children John, Sally & Elizabeth; also grandchildren Erin Varnell, Kurt & Sarah Evans, Dylan Barber, Blaine, Blake, Blair & Ryder Forester, & one grt granddaughter Lucy Varnell.
My Cora Woodward would have been abt 25 when this man was born. I also know I had other Hood Co kin from an adjoining line who moved to Lockhart and wonder if this might be a connection. I have little to go on. Cora was a young girl in 1900 and I cannot find her family after that so so idea where they went, who she married etc. Her parents were Dennis and S. J. or J. S.(reverses between 2 census reports) Davis Woodward; her father was John J. Davis.
Would anyone have information on the Searcy Barber family and perhaps have a clue for me that would help connect or help discount this idea? Thank you for any assistance, Sandra
