I'm sorry to report that I have no specific answers to your questions. My research has been, primarily, with the Jonathan CLOWER (my maternal GGG Grandfather) descendants. Nancy CLOWER MYERS WRIGHT was one of his children, and particularly through this Bulletin Board, her later life. I do have the following data regarding your James WRIGHT (son of Asa and Elizabeth WRIGHT - FEDERAL CENSUS: Year: 1850; State: Texas; County: Guadalupe; Sheet No: 288A; Reel no: M432-910; Page No: 574) and Matilda MYERS (FEDERAL CENSUS: Year: 1850; State: Mississippi; County: Pontotoc; Date: 12 October 1850; Page No. 137-A & B). Guadalupe County, TX: "Guadalupe County Marriage Records (1846-1865)" SOURCE: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txguadal/marriage1.html WRIGHT, James F. to Matilda Meeanes by S. J. Wright, Mar 6 1853. WRIGHT, James F. / MIEARS, Matilda A. [n.d.]. "James was the son of Asa Wright and Elizaeth [sic] Taylor; Matilda was the daughter of Jarred Miears …. Jarred was married 18 December 1820 to Nancy Clowers…." NOTE: This marriage data from Joy Jeffers, Volunteer Researcher at Caldwell Co., TX Genealogical Society Research Center. REF: The names of the children in the 1850 Fedeal Census; Pontotoc Co., Mississippi. According to the ages given in both 1850 Federal Census', when they married in 1853, James would be about 21 and Matilda would be about 22. I am not sure of James' middle name. Regarding the Choctaw connection in the early WRIGHT linage, I have no idea about this. Perhaps a WRIGHT researcher will give you a better reply should they read this query. Sorry I could have been more help and good luck in your further research. Grady Greene Notify Administrator about this message?
