His name was Ewell Cole (b. about 1827). I believe that he was the older brother of Seth (b. about 1833). Or perhaps cousins???? They are both found on the Calcasieu Parish, LA censuses and migrated together to Gonzales Co., TX around 1870. Seth and his wife Hulda Simmons Cole later migrated to Calhoun Co., but I find no record of Ewell. Seth died in Calhoun Co. in 1908. His wife was still living during the 1910 census. I believe that Seth and Hulda had at least 3 children--Emma, Seth and Lora.
Ring any bells with you?
K
