August 22, 1996

Earl Blakely, age 70 of Baird, Texas, passed away Monday morning in an Abilene hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a. m., Wednesday in the Ross Cemetery Annex.
Carlon Sampson will officiate.
Mr. Blakely was born June 4, 1926 in Belle Plaine, Texas. He had been a resident of Callahan County all of his life. He was self-employed; owner of Blakely Dozers. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and served in India and Japan. He was a member of the Eugene Bell Post 82 of the American Legion. He married Pearlie Mae Whitt on April 8, 1950.
Mr. Blakely is survived by one sister, Clara Gorman of Baird, Texas, one niece, Sharon Kay Norris of Abilene and one nephew Owen Wayne Smedley of Abilene, Texas.
