Here is their sons Obit: Retired supervisory Border Patrol agent Eddie R. Bentley, 71, of Alamogordo, died Monday, March 24, 2008, in Alamogordo. Eddie was born June 13, 1936, in Shamrock, Texas, to Paul and Mildred (Beach) Bentley. After graduating from Shamrock High School, he enlisted in the Navy for four years. Upon completing his military service, he became an officer with the Texas Department of Public Safety. In February 1967, he entered duty with the Border Patrol as an Immigration Patrol Inspector with the McAllen Sector. In March 1967, he entered the Border Patrol Academy and graduated in June of that year. His first assignment was at the Rio Grande City Station. In November 1970, he was assigned to the Alamogordo Station. He was promoted to Supervisory Border Patrol Agent in January 1989 and retired in 1993. Following his retirement, he was a firearms instructor with the Border Patrol Academy until his death. Eddie was a member of Sacramento Lodge No. 24, A.F. and A.M.; Tularosa Lodge No. 49, A.F. and A.M.; the Scottish Rite Consistory of Las Cruces; Ballut Abyad Shrine of New Mexico; the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, both in Artesia. Survivors include his wife Monika, of the family home; four children, Brett Bentley and his wife Jenny, of Powell, Ohio, Radel Bunker-Farrah and her husband Kevin, of Las Cruces, Tracy Bentley-Townlin and her husband Tracy, of Albany, Ore., and Michael Apodaca, of Alamogordo; five grandchildren, Madison and Devon Bentley, of Powell, Ohio, Nolan and Taylor Bunker, of Las Cruces, and Gabrielle Apodaca, of Alamogordo; a brother, Mack Bentley and his wife Sue, of Magic City, Texas; and three sisters, Pauline Sutterfield and her husband Raymond, of Amarillo, Texas, Jeri Blodgett, of White Deer, Texas, and Gayle McKay and her husband John, of Avery, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home and private inurnment will be in Monte Vista Cemetery. A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Steve Trout officiating. Masonic rites will be given by Sacramento Lodge No. 24, A.F. and A.M., and military honors will be provided by the Border Patrol.
