I visited the Cass County Courthouse in Linden, and after a close review of Cass County Marriage Records 1847 - 1923, for Males, failed to find any record of marriage for James B. Patterson.
Afterward, I visited the Morris County Courthouse in Daingerfield, and found a record of marriage for J. B. Patterson to Ella Barfield. They were married on 3 Oct 1897. Their marriage record is reflected in Morris County Marriage Records Book C, page 351, license #1802.
Also, a book "Cemeteries With Cass County Connections Volume 3", published by the Cass County Genealogical Society (CCGS) reflects on page 4, of this publication that Dr. J. B. Patterson, Ella O., and Mary Ida are all interred in Lot 23, of the Hughes Springs Cemetery.
I have a copy of J. B. Patterson/Ella Barfield marriage record, and a copy of page 4, referenced above that I can send to you via email or snail mail whichever you prefer.
Additionally, I was informed that Morris County branched from Titus County in 1875, so it is quite possible that the marriage record of James B. Patterson to Mary Ida
may be found in Titus County Marriage Records.
