Danny:
Did a little checking on William Jett Norman in Chambers County, but was disappointed in the amount of information located. According to two affidavits by Permelia J. Scherer and Amanda M. Smith (Chambers County Deed Records, 38/535 & 55/222, respectively), W. J. Norman did indeed marry Mary Ann Barrow, daughter of Ben and Permelia Barrow. Mary died in 1864 in childbirth with their first child, the latter of which also died ten days later. W. J. Norman married a second time, but I know not to whom. Nor did I find the date of either marriage. He was a party, as both grantor and grantee, in land deeds in Chambers County, on both sides of the Trinity River, in the years 1862, 1866, 1869, 1871 and 1876. In all these, he was referred to as being a resident of Chambers County. However, I checked the 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses for the county and did not find him listed on any of them! Could he have been on some of his trips back to Tennessee during all of these? Seems unlikely, but I didn't find an answer to this either. He died about 1928, but no death certificate in Chambers County. This certainly isn't much, but hope it helps in some manner.
