As to your welcome e-mail: No, I am not related to your Normans, but Yes, am VERY related to the Barrows, having direct lines through both my parents back to Solomon Barrow, one of the brothers of your Benjamin. It is difficult to find any of the early families here who are not in some way tied to the Barrows. They came here early, stayed, and were quite prolific. As to your question, allow me to quote directly from the affidavit by Mrs. Permelia Jane (Barrow) Scherer, recorded in Vol. 38 at Page 535 of the Deed Records of Chambers County, in which she outlined the eight children of Benjamin & Permelia Barrow, of which she was the sixth, and Mary Ann was the eighth: "Mary Ann Barrow, a daughter, who married W. J. Norman. There were no children born to the said Mary Ann Barrow and W. J. Norman. The said Mary Ann Barrow, wife of W. J. Norman, died before the death of her father, Benjamin Barrow, Sr. The said W. J. Norman died in about the year 1928, after having married a second time, after the death of his first wife, Mary Ann Barrow." Obviously, no mention is made of the birth of the child in 1864, at which Mary Jane died, since the child died at ten days of age and would not have altered the distribution of the Barrow property, the apparent reason for this affidavit in the first place. If this brings up any more questions, let me know and I will attempt to answer further.
